Its surface is a result from both soda licking across its surface and the iron showing through the slip. Tom’s pots are sanded by hand to give a soft feel and make them more friendly to use. The interiors are lined with glaze and the clay is vitrified. They are safe to use, but I recommend handling with care, but encourage using them.
