In Tandem Gallery is a curated group of artists dedicated to contemporary craft, with a focus on ceramics made by artists who value process, material, and intention.
We also represent an excellent selection of distinctive jewelry artists
Q: What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, Apple Pay, PayPal, and cash. Payment by check may also be arranged—please contact us if you have any questions.
Q: What is your privacy policy?
Your privacy matters to us. We never sell or share your personal information - ever!
Q: How do I purchase artwork online?
Simply click the “Add to Cart” button on the artwork page and follow the checkout steps. If you need assistance at any point, feel free to reach out—we’re happy to help.
Please note: The website often overcharges for shipping, especially for multiple orders. And it is our policy to always refund the difference.
Q: Why can’t I add a piece to my cart?
If the “Add to Cart” button is not available, the artwork has already been sold. Because many of our pieces are one-of-a-kind, availability can change quickly and often does.
Q: Why did items disappear from my cart?
Items placed in your cart remain available for purchase by other customers. A piece is only removed from the website once the transaction is completed.
Q: Will I receive confirmation of my order?
Yes, you’ll receive an email confirmation with a summary of your purchase and all associated costs. If you don’t see it, please check your spam folder or contact us.
Q: Can I change or cancel my order?
Please contact us as soon as possible if you need to make changes. We’ll do our best to accommodate your request, though some orders may ship quickly and cannot be modified.
Q: What is your return policy?
We want you to feel confident in your purchase.
The customer has 14 calendar days from the date of receipt to return an item. To be eligible for a return, the item must be in its original, unused condition, preferably with the same level of packaging, such as being wrapped and double-boxed if the item is large or fragile.
Refunds are issued for the purchase price minus shipping and packing costs.
Q: How will my order be shipped?
Orders within the contiguous United States are typically shipped via USPS, FedEx, or UPS. We try to pick the most inexpensive but safest method we can. International orders are regularly shipped via USPS.
Q: Do you ship internationally?
We do ship internationally. Shipping times and duties may vary depending on the destination, but it’s a pretty common practice for us.
Q: How are items packaged?
All pieces are carefully and securely packaged to ensure they arrive safely, no matter the distance. We strongly believe in reusing our packing materials, which not only keeps our shipping prices as low as possible but also helps the environment.
Q: How long will it take to receive my order?
Shipping times vary depending on order volume, location, size, etc. During quieter periods, orders may ship the same day; during busy times, processing may take up to 5 days. If you need expedited handling, please contact us.
Q: Can I ship to an address different from my billing address?
Absolutely. You can enter a separate shipping address during checkout. If you have special instructions, feel free to contact us.
Q: What if my order arrives damaged?
Please inspect your shipment upon arrival. If any damage has occurred, contact us promptly so we can assist with a claim. Be sure to retain all packaging materials.
Q: Where is In Tandem Gallery located?
In Tandem Gallery operates both online and through a physical location. Our gallery is based in Bakersville, North Carolina—about one hour from Asheville and just 15 minutes from the renowned Penland School of Craft. While rare, pricing errors can occur. If this happens, we’ll work with you to find a fair and satisfactory resolution.

Q: What inspires In Tandem Gallery?
We are inspired by the relationship between the people who create things as well as the material used. Clay is an awe-inspiring medium, and the variations and inspirations are limitless.
Q: Are your pieces food safe?
Yes, unless otherwise noted, all functional ceramics are made with food-safe glazes and materials. That being said, gentle handling is always recommended for anything that’s loved, it just helps it last longer.
Q: How do I care for handmade ceramics?
Most of our ceramics are durable and intended for everyday use. We do recommend gentle handling and avoiding sudden temperature changes. Handwashing is always a good method of cleaning.
